Breakfast with the Curators 2010

This year's series of lectures and artists presentations will be held over three weeks in August at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture on Museum Hill. This popular program provides an opportunity to meet and learn about Native American Artists and arts through talks, tours of our exhibits, or behind the scenes with MIAC curators, scholars and artists.

Reservations are required for all Breakfast with the Curators presentations. Tickets cost $25/ $20 MNMF members, museum admission is included. Please call (505) 476-1247 or  (505) 476-1271 for reservations and more information. Reservations are required and seating is limited.

  *8:30-10:00 am

  *Beginning with Breakfast at the New Museum Hill Café, followed by programs at the Museum.

  *Cost is $25 per person, or $20 per person for MNMF members. Museum admission included.

Friday, August 13: Breakfast with Dr. Jill Grady and Dr. Peter Furst, guest curators and anthropologists, followed by a tour of our newest exhibit Huichol Art and Culture: Balancing the World

 

August 17-  Indian Market Highlights: Gerónima Cruz Montoya

Tuesday, August 17: Breakfast with Bruce Bernstein, Director of SWAIA Santa Fe Indian Market, followed by a talk entitled “Geronima Cruz Montoya Country: An Indigenous New Mexico Story ” and highlights of Geronima Cruz Montoya’s works in the MIAC Collections

 

August 20- Function to Fine Art: American Indian Basketry - A Preview Behind the Scenes at MIAC

Friday, August 20: Breakfast with Larry Dalrymple, guest curator and well-known basketry expert, followed by a talk introducing our upcoming basketry exhibit “From Function to Fine Art: American Indian Basketry” and a behind the scenes tour of MIAC’s basketry collection.

 

August 27 – Lonnie Vigil: 2010 Native Treasures Artist Honoree

Friday, August 27:  Breakfast with Lonnie Vigil, renowned micaceous potter and 2010 MIAC Native Treasures Artist Honoree, followed by a talk and viewing of  Lonnie Vigil’s work on display at the Museum
